MATERIAL JUST KEEPS FEEDING OUT

Most likely it is either too much light hitting the sensors or the sensors are bad.  First, determine if it is the light by turning off the lights in the room and then try to initialize the plotter by hitting F1.  If it initializes correctly then you will need to reduce the amount of light in the room.  If this does not work try covering the rear sensor (located on the back of the plotter almost under the control panel) with a piece of tape. Also you may try to cover the sensor in the front. If this does not work then one or both of the sensors are bad.  You can operate the plotter without the sensors by hitting the F3 button.  This will initialize the plotter and bypass the sensors.

I GET A "SERIAL PORT FAILED' MESSAGE

If you are connected through a serial port using a serial cable and you are gettting "Serial Port Failed" or "Serial Port In Use" or any other error message similar then something is blocking the serial port of your computer and preventing ComputerCut from using the port.  The first step is to check to see if you have any programs that might be using the port such as a sign program, or a cell phone or PDA procut that uses the port.  If there are any then disable them and try it.  If it is still not cutting, place the mouse over the small icons in the lower right corner of the desktop to see what programs are running in the background.  Sometimes and antivirus program may capture a port.  Disable these. If it is still not cutting, go to your Control Panel-Printers and Faxes and remove any printer or cutters that you are not using.  A last resort would be to purchase one of our Serial to USB converters and bypass the serial port and go directly to the USB port.

HOW DOES THE FREE GRAPHICS WORK?

If you do not have any experience in converting graphics I would suggest you use our free graphics service until you build up your knowledge and your customer base.  The way it works is you get one free hour per month where all you have to do is to fax (561 691-6252) or email (graphics@computercut.com) what you want done and we will design it for you and put it up under the CC Dealer database in the ComputerCut program under your company name.  You will get a confirmation email once it is done.  Ususally it takes about 15 minutes to do a graphic depending on its complexity and quality.  The CC Dealer database is open to all CC dealers so we are constantly building a database of images for you to draw from.  So if you are looking for something specific like a logo or something, do a search for it first.  If you don not want your image to be available to everyone then we put it in your private database called "My Database" but we charge you for the work at $35.00 per hour.

HOW DO I USE COMPUTERCUT TO DO REAR WINDOWS IN TWO PIECES?

Select the rear window and increase just the height by about 1 inch and cut it.  Place it on the car and line up the bottom with the bottom of the rear window.  Select the defroster where you want to cut it in two and cut along the defroster about 1/4 inch above the defroster. Heatshrink the lower portion.  Then take the top piece and pull it down so it overlaps the defroster and the lower piece of film. Heatshrink the top piece and finish trimming the top piece to the top of the window.  Clean the rear window and install the top and bottom pieces and splice along the defroster where the two pieces overlap.

COMPUTERCUT ON MAC/WINDOWS CONFIGURED COMPUTERS

ComputerCut works with the Mac computers. If you have Windows installed and would rather use ComputerCut under Windows it will work depending on how your Windows is installed.  There are two ways to install Windows on a Mac.  One will work for ComputerCut and the other one may not.

The most common way, and the one that works for ComputerCut, is to use a hard drive partitioning program that comes with the Mac called Boot Camp. It basically divides the hard drive and runs Mac on one part and Windows on the other.  Using Boot Camp means every time you want to switch between Mac and Windows you have to shut down and restart in the operating system you want.  Most important though is that with Boot Camp you have clear access to the ports, which is what ComputerCut needs in order to plot to the plotter.

The other way is to use a program called Parallel or similar that allows the user to switch back and forth between the two systems without having to reboot.  The drawback is that you can not use the ports.

If you are using Boot Camp, simply open your computer in Windows and follow the same installation and setup procedures as you would with a regular Windows computer.

If you are using Parrallel or other similar program I suggest you contact your software provider and find out if there is a way to plot or print from Windows.
